In brief: Rarely helps

One of the major changes in infertility care has been the change from surgery to IVF treatment.
We almost never think that surgery benefits IVF except if you have hydrosalpinx (dilated blocked tubes).

In brief: Lapaorscopy

If you have endometriosis and have a large endometrioma that may interfere with stimulation or egg retrieval, or if you have blocked fallopian tubes, then it may be worthwhile to have a laparoscopy before ivf.
Otherwise, there isn't any reason to have this procedure done before the ivf cycle.

In brief: Depends

It depends on the reason of infertility.
If patient has symptoms or signs of endometriosis, laparoscopy may help. However, if it is male factor infertility, laparoscopy may not be necessary.

In brief: NOT USUALLY

There is little or no reason to have this procedure done prior to ivf.
It adds nothing diagnostically or therapeutically to helping you get pregnant!
