I have water retention on cheeks due to Pcos Insulin Resistance. Will metformin reduce it?

Water in cheeks. "Water" retention is always due to salt retention. Son look at your salt intake first.
Puffy cheeks. Metformin may help in PCOS. Aldactone which is a type of diuretic (water pill) may also help. Be mindful of the fact that "water retention on cheeks" may be due to other causes other than PCOS. Have you been evaluated for cushings?

Can metformin cause me to be sick? When I take a metformin pill, I start vomiting. Is there any other type of drug for insulin resistance/pcos

Yes, it can. Gastrointestinal side effects are the most common for metformin. Unfortunately, it remains the only "biguanide" available (meaning there is not an alternative). There are different formulations of metformin, such as fortamet, which supposedly have less GI side effects. There is new data about using cholesterol medicines like zocor (simvastatin) for pcos.
