Urine culture showed strep viridans 10, 000-25, 000 bacterial colonies. Mild burning at the end of urination in a female. Should antibiotics be used?

Maybe, maybe not. Strep viridans is not a common cause of UTI but is often present in the genital area and easily contaminates voided urine. And real UTI usually has higher numbers. But if careful clean-catch urine specimens show signs of infection (increased WBC without epithelial cells) and had the same culture result, with no other bacteria, a trial of treatment might be warranted. Discuss with your doctor.
