In brief: Where in the heel?

Most heel pain can be divided into two categories - pain in the back of the heel, caused by a bony promience or the achilles tendon; or pain in the bottom of the heel, from plantar fasciitis.
If the pain has only been present for a short time, you can try wearing comfortable shoes or heel pads. If it lasts more than a few weeks, you should see an orthopaedic surgeon or a podiatrist.

In brief: More info

Would be helpful to know if it is the bottom of the heel = plantar fasciitis more often than not or the back of the heel = haglund's deformity, achilles tendonitis, posterior spur more often than not.
Treatments would vary depending on which it is.
