In brief: Something bled

The most common cause of coughing up blood is bronchitis, for the throat is so raw it bleeds.
That would go away on its own. But, if you have not been coughing, other things can cause blood to collect in your throat, like nose bleeds. Once you get moving, you bring the blood up. It should stop happening after a few days. If it is heavy bleeding, or doesn't stop, you should seen a doctor.

In brief: Nose Bleed

You likely had a nose bleed while sleeping.
If you are fine now and not coughing you can follow this at home. Do not go forcefully blowing your nose as this may restart the bleeding. http://www.webmd.com/first-aid/nosebleeds-causes-and-treatments
