In brief: Atelectasis

Gen Anesthesia w/ breathing tube and controlled ventilation can cause the normal lung to be under inflated during surgery.
Once you are awake and breathing spontaneously the lungs re inflate to normal capacity. This can cause some pain esp if you are a smoker, Asthmatic, Obese, Obstructive sleep apnea, not physically fit. If pain and fatigue cont. see your PCP.

Internal Medicine

In brief: Post-op lung pain

Could be irritation of the lung surface -pleudynia, oor after surgery could be blood clot , call you doc today and asked if they evaluated for blood clot.
usually V/Q scan or CT angio are used for diagnosis not PET scan. Unlikely cancer, but clots post op occur and coudl be serious follow up today
