On birth control + withdraw method. Pregnancy test negative 3 days before period supposed to start. What are chances I'm pregnant?

Too soon to know. Conception, as defined by the generation of a fertilized ovum, occurs within day or so of the sex. However, it takes about 2-3 weeks for the embryo to make enough HCG to produce a positive pregnancy test. Blood test may be done a day after a missed period. Home pregnancy tests should be done 4-5 days after the missed period. If the result is negative repeat the test in 4-5 days. Use first morning urine and follow instructions for the test carefully. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time. You may consider implanted contraceptive, or IUD. Practice safe sex. Get HPV vaccine.

I have a lot of pregnancy symptoms, but pregnancy test negative after missed period. I stopped my birth control (microgestin/pill) 1 mth & 2 weeks ago.

Trust the test. Home pregnancy tests are very accurate. They are the same tests used in a doctors office. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period. If you doubt the result you can repeat it in 1-2 days. If you were pregnant the hormone level would rise enough for detection. Read more...

Repeat pregnancy test. A home urine pregnancy test won't turn positive until 10-14 days after conception. Using the 1st urine of the morning will concentrate the beta-HCG hormone in the urine. So test at 14 days & if negative again a few days later using 1st urine of the morning. If both are negative, you're not pregnant. Read more...

Miss my period because I change birth control. No withdrawal bleed in two weeks. Pregnancy test negative. Now having painful intercourse.

Painful sex. There can be multiple causes. Dryness is one of them. More time to foreplay increases lubrication of the vagina. You can also use water based lubricant. Also decreased estrogen in the blood increase dryness of the vagina. You can get that checked. If it is low estrogen hormone supplement can help. Another cause is vaginismus which to treat is much more difficult. You need to see an expert gyn. Read more...

Started bleeding for one day but the bleeding stopped and now spotting. Never been on birth control. Took pregnancy test negative. Came two days early?

Don't know reason. The main reason for light periods is a change in hormone levels. Causes for what seems to be a light period can include: implantation bleeding in early pregnancy, thyroid problems, eating disorders, excessive exercise, initial periods for a girl, use of an intrauterine device, oral contraceptives & perimenopause. Hormonal abnormality. The causes of dysfunctional uterine bleeding are either hormonal or structural (like a fibroid). At your age I would strongly suspect a hormonal problem and not a fibroid. The ultrasound will rule out (or in) the structural abnormality. Do you have PCOS? If the ultrasound is normal your doctor will likely run multiple tests to determine what the hormonal problem is. Light pink blood only when wiping? Pregnancy test negative did 2? Dr says could be spotting from birth control pills? Had 2 UTIs?

Uncertain. This could be another UTI.If you are on birth control pills and taking them at the same time every day you should not be pregnant but antibiotics can interfere with birth control pills and result in spotting as can taking pills late or missing pills.I have also had patients spot or bleed abnormally when the brand or generic for their pill was switched.Pills do make periods lighter/just spotting to.
