After BM, there was a lot of dark thick blood in the toilet. I have hemorrhoids, but they cause bright red spotting. Safe to ignore if isolated?

In brief: No, do not ignore

Any time you have bleeding in your stool it's important to see your Dr. and get it evaluated.
Especially since this has changed in color to dark thick blood which may be a sign of an upper Intestinal bleeding site. Be safe, call your Dr. and get an appt soon! Best wishes.
