In brief: Respiratory Issues

Exposure to certain molds can cause respiratory problems.
Too much to discuss in this small space. You can start your research here: http://www.cdc.gov/mold/stachy.htm

In brief: Most people = no

Molds grow in damp places, can cause symptoms: nose, throat, and chest.
Some make a poison (mycotoxin), most don’t. Air exposure not severe except for people with allergies, asthma, lung diseases, and immune deficiency. Don’t swallow molds. Clean up carefully. Reliable sources 1) general: https://www.cdc.gov/mold/faqs.htm 2) hurricane: https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/rr5508a1.htm

In brief: Yes

Usually a respiratory (lung) illness.
Rare to affect the skin. Stomach acid will usually kill the mold, but it can also affect your GI system.

In brief: Mold

We are surrounded by mold and other "germs "daily in our environment but our body has an immune system that protects us.
There are some molds that can be over exuberant in moist enclosed areas , such as stachbotrys( black mold ),aspergillus that cause disease by invasion and volatile organic gases and should be removed . Most infection by mold occur in immunocompromised people. f/u w/ allergist

In brief: Not really

The "toxic mold" business is a money-maker for lawyers but most physicians think it's hokum. I wouldn't be frightened.
We've been living around molds since we've had houses, and probably before.
