Can thumping in the ear be caused by impacted ear wax?

In brief: Not per se but...

If your ear canal is blocked by the impacted ear wax then you don't have air conduction on that side but only bone conduction and you may hear the pounding of the small artery running through your ear not masked by the street sounds.
First, get the ear wax thoroughly removed and the pounding will probably stop.
