Developed lower back nerve pain (at waistline) about 6-8 weeks ago. I walk/exercise daily. Could a new chair I bought and use possibly be the cause?

In brief: All pain is nerve-

-pain, but that related to lumbar nerves is associated with leg pain.
This sounds like muscle pain, unless you have some degenerative disk disease. A new chair if causes the pain, just stop using it for about a month. If it no longer causes the back issue, you have the cause. Especially if it came on suddenly. Otherwise I recommend that you see your PCP or internist.
