Put on cipro (ciprofloxacin) for uti or bladder infection. Read side effects of it & it says it's a dangerous antibiotic. Is it safe? Zpak gave nerve damage last year.

In brief: Probably safe but...

Ciprofloxacin and similar antibiotics (fluoroquinolones) indeed are more toxic than most doctors realized for many years, and are no longer considered first line drugs for UTI.
However, the vast majority of those who take them have no side effects at all; the main problems come with higher doses for longer times. Azithromycin (Z-pak) is unrelated; that side effect doesn't increase risk from cipro (ciprofloxacin).
