Why dose sex with a new partner cause UTI?

In brief: Vaginal bacteria

Sex doesn't increase UTI risk in males, only in women.
Bacteria that cause UTI often exist near the vaginal opening, and sex can "massage" bacteria into the urethra, resulting in UTI. It has nothing to do with new or long time partner (although sex often is more frequent or more vigorous in new relationships, which might increase UTI risk).
