In brief: Different for each

Unfortunately pancreatic cancer can be very painful.
Each person responds differently and no one solution for everyone. Use of narcotics is usually the first step. Nerve block and nerve abalation techniques are also helpful for some.

Dr. Shirazi is correct is that the best medicine is what works best for you. Opiate analgesics are the mainstay therapy. Combination of a long- acting and a short acting opiate for breakthrough pain is generally needed. If one cannot tolerate oral medications, transdermal and oral transmucosal are other options.

Ask about whether a celiac plexus block, delivered through the stomach wall, might be an option.

In brief: Pain control

Narcotics but your gastroenterologist may be able to do a celiac nerve block.
This can be very helpful.
