In brief: Nodular melanoma

Three of the four types of melanoma remain superficial in the epidermis and grow RADIALLY (laterally), often for several years, before entering the VERTICAL GROWTH PHASE where they grow downward and invade the dermis with the potential to metastasize.
The fourth type of melanoma is nodular melanoma which STARTS in the vertical growth phase and can metastasize from the outset.

In brief: It's moot

All other things being equal, a nodular is more likely to kill you than a superficial spreader or a lentigo maligna.
Other things are not equal. Prognosis has more to do with depth of invasion, thickness, possibly molecular markers. Whether a melanoma is melanotic (produces melanin) or not isn't related to whether it's nodular. Melamonas are famously unpredictable in individual cases. Best wishes.
