What does it mean when you have a migraine that is effecting your vision?

Classical migraine. The variety of migraine which is associated with auras affecting the eyes and results in scintillating scotomata and/ or fortification spectra is called "Classical Migraine" and is far less common than "Common Migraine".
Migraine with aura. It sounds as though you have "migraines with aura". Aura refers to specific symptoms that occur before the onset of the headache. These symptoms are temporary and act as a harbinger of the headache to come. The aura not infrequently involves changes in vision such as blind spots, loss of vision, etc. that are temporary.
