Constipated for 3 wks. Took MiraLax & Colace 3 days, didn't help. I've had small, hard BMs but not much. Took mag citrate (300mL) & had diarrhea after. No formed stools. Bloating, abd. & low back pain, borbor. Could this be a partial bowel obstruction?

Probably not. Doesn't sound like a typical small bowel obstruction. Its possible however. If you haven't had previous abdominal surgery, it would be very unlikely. I have been having lower stomach and severe back pain. I was hospitalized for a bowel obstruction. Now I've been diagnosed with two hernias. Are the problems related?

Could be. Hernias: external (abd wall or groin), or internal (hiatal-opening in diaphragm for esophagus to enter stomach, or other internal "ruptures"). If bowel gets caught, and stuck (incarcerated) can cause bowel obstruction. If bowel gets caught, blood supply compromised, it is strangulated- surgical emergency. You did not say what kind of hernias you have.If the hernias are inguinal or femoral than it is not related.But if you have incisional or ventral hernia it may be related to surgery if you had any for intestinal obstruction we do not know what your newly diagnosed hernias are. I am not sure whether you have had abdominal surgery before by your question , however if you have required surgery before and your hernias are a result of the previous surgeries then your abdominal pain could be related .
