How many rotavirus vaccines are needed to prevent it in a 6 month old? Can 1 dose prevent it?

In brief: 2 or 3 doses

The rotavirus vaccine, depending on which one is given to your baby, should be given 2 or 3 times, not just once.
Rotateq is a given at 2,4, and 6 months. Rotarix is given at 2 and 4 months only. If your baby is already 6 months old and has never had a rotavirus vaccine, it is not recommended to start the series at all.
