I am on lo loestrin fe for premenopause but still experience hot flashes and night sweats. How long does it take for lo loestrin fe to help?

Menopause management. w/ Loestrin should reduce symptoms within the first pack. Birth control pills are dosed higher than most menopausal HRT so symptom relief should be quick. If not, then your symptoms may not be coming from an estrogen/progesterone imbalance. In my practice, I use sensitive salivary hormone testing to discover what is missing and replace only that. That seems to work best for my patients.

BCP timing. If you are taking the pill earlier than usual, you will be protected. If the pill is taken longer than 24 hrs ( especially extreme low dose pills like LoLoestrin), i would use back up like condoms for the remainder of the cycle and continue at the new time. Read more...

On birth control pill, lo loestrin fe. How long should I wait after unprotected sex to take pregancy test?

3 weeks. Conception, as defined by the generation of a fertilized ovum, occurs within day or so of the sex. Home pregnancy tests should be done 4-5 days after the missed period. If the result is negative repeat the test in 4-5 days. Use first morning urine and follow instructions for the test carefully. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time. You may consider implanted contraceptive, or IUD. Practice safe sex. Read more...
