What is the cause of mucousy orange stool, that occurs with normal BM but is onset with stomach pain? Can IBS develop anytime? When to see doc? Thanks

Mucus with stool. Mucus discharge occurs in up to 50% of patients with irritable bowel syndrome, with or without pain. Mucus may also be produced in response to partial obstruction, chronic constipation, rectal dysfunction, infection, & even from secretory villous tumors of the rectum, among others. See doc for definitive diagnosis, particularly if mucus is persistent or accompanied by other concerning symptoms.
