I had the flu a week ago. Fever is gone but my cough is constant, ton of mucus in chest. Doing nebs every 4 hrs. Bronchitis?

Below. You prob do have bronchitis Now the question is whether it is viral or bacterial. You will need an exam by your DR to make that determination. In the meanwhile drink at least one gallon of water per day. This will loosen the "mucous" and make it easier for you to cough it up.

Recently had the flu, but it's gone now, still mucus left over. I have a stinging pain in the middle of my chest when I flex, is this from the flu,?

Mgt. Flu symptoms may last several days. If there is any fever or difficulty breathing, I would advise seeing your PCP or urgent care center. If the pain is only upon flexion, then the pain is most likely from musculo-skeletal causes ( eg muscular strain). A heating pad and Motrin may help. Read more...

I had the flu last week an had a really bad cough. All that has cleared but I still have a sore chest if I touch it or lie on it at all. Can you help?

Musculo-skeletal. It sounds like you might have strained a muscle or the cartilage which connects the ribs to the breastbone. This problem is called costo-chondritis and can be very painful with breathing, coughing or physical pressure on the spot. Taking Ibuprofen may help to relieve the pain and it will get better with rest. It was likely caused by the severe coughing you had with the flu. Read more...

I just had the flu 3 weeks ago. Now I have pain in my chest/throat/sinuses, along with a cough and green snot. What could this be?

Possibilities.... Sometimes, after the flu infection is over, a secondary infection can develop. Typically, it is either in the airways, called acute bronchitis, or in the lung parenchyma itself, called pneumonia. The flu infection is viral but the secondary infection can be bacterial, requiring antibiotics, or viral. For this reason, see your doctor for evaluation and treatment, especially if symptoms are worse. Read more...

I had the flu the past week but I can't get rid of this cough! Sometimes it's dry sometimes mucus! Now I have hard bump on roof of mouth!

Stubborn symptoms. This is probably a result of having the flu recently. Sometimes when people are sick their immune symptoms become taxed and are susceptible to other viruses/bacteria taking over. You could also have a respiratory virus in addition to the flu causing the cough or it could be from invading normal oral bacteria during your illness. If your symptoms worsen over the next week see a doctor. Read more...
