Heart rate of 70 right before bed. Is this normal? BP numbers are 118/77. I take atenolol. Is this ok?

Yes. This is a normal heart rate and blood pressure. Atenolol as I am sure you know is a beta blocker and will slow your heart rate down and decrease your blood pressure. Be mindful of symptoms such as light-headedness especially when standing up quickly, unsteadiness during activity. These are signs of hypotension and bradycardia (slow heart rate) and can indicate overdose of Atenolol. Read more...

I take 50mg atenolol on a split dose. Sometimes I get slight headache and heart rate is 58-60 mainly at night. Is this ok? Or the dose is too strong?

Depends. Would need to know why you are taking atenolol. Generally 25 mg of atenolol twice a day is a common dose. The slowing of heart to 58-60 would be expected. Headache is one of the non serious side effects known to be caused by atenolol. It is usually given as a once a day pill, tho it can be given twice a day. But u should check with ur doc since he/she knows ur case. Read more...

I take atenolol 12.5mg. Heart rate 75-82 when I combine same dose with I fish oil capsule heart rate 62-74. Why is this?

Also sometimes the act of digestion will cause a noticeable heart rate decrease - which is what is supposed to happen. The fish oil tablets may be doing this. Read more...

When I take fish oil along with my usual dose of atenolol I notice my heart rate drops even more than with atenolol alone. Why does this happen?

Confirmation bias. There is no mechanism for this. Most likely you are experiencing a deceptive phenomenon called confirmation bias, where a believed notion is confirmed as true since it is consciously monitored. When it does not hold true, the negative correlation is considered an anomaly and exception from the usual pre-conceived notion. Alternatively, taking the fish oil calms the HR by trusting its benefits. Read more...
