In brief: Beta blockers

B blockers are used to treat angina caused by coronary disease, and they are effective.
They reduce heart rate and the workload of the heart, including response to exercise. With very high norepinephrine conditions, eg. pheochromocytoma, blocking beta can cause unopposed alpha and raise BP. But that is a very rare condition.
