In brief: Reflux
Reflux in infants is quite common.
Medications are used to help treat the symptoms. Zantac and Reglan (metoclopramide) are the mainstays. Most infants will outgrow the reflux by 8- 1-0 months. Mine did. If they continue to reflux despite medical mgt and lose weight or suffer pain then surgery is the next step. Thickening the formula with rice eal and sleep position can also help use gravity to prevent reflux.
