Found out that I have a loose acl in my left knee. What exactly does that mean? I am seeing a physical therapist next week. Do i need ortho referral?

In brief: Yes

The ACL is one of the main stabilizers of the knee.
If it is " loose" that implies that you have a degree of instability in the knee that may put you at risk for further injury. I would definitely sit down with an orthopedist for an exam and discussion. At your young age, you don't want to end up with knee problems that might have been prevented.
