What will Sodium Floride gel 1.1% help do for pre existing cavities. My dentist is trying to get my severe cavities to stop before dental work?

In brief: Fluoride gel

Decay does not stop...it needs to be removed and repaired.

In brief: Small ones yes

Small D1 & D2 lesions (those just in the enamel & not into the dentin) yes it can be VERY helpful & preventative, but if the decay is already into the dentin or is a severe cavity a filling is needed & the hell will only protect against future cavities or protect current dental investments

In brief: See your dentist

At this point, the only way to fix the cavity is for your dentist to remove the decay.
