In brief: Rectal bleeding

Ignore your Ob Doctor. Continued Rectal bleeding on and off warrants another colonoscopy especially to evaluate the previous polyp you had.

In brief: Need GI

Sounds like two problems: Upper GI and Lower GI.
Bleeding in your age range is usually hemorrhoidal disease (as your GP stated). Upper GI could be gastritis related or a complication of your surgery. You likely need eval with upper and lower endoscopy by GI and possible follow up w surgery. There are blood tests that can help too. www.bmednyc.com
