In brief: NO

Do not rely on Liver function testing to determine if you drink too much.
The liver may endure tremendous assault and injury before the tests may even shoe elevations, so if you drink too much, please stop and discuss with your Dr.

In brief: No

You can still have injury without abnormal liver tests.
Alcohol should only be consumed in moderation. For a man, it is possible to develop cirrhosis over 10-15 years by drinking 3 or more drinks a day. Remember that at 12 oz beer, a 5 oz glass of wine and a 1.5 oz shot are about equivalent in alcohol content.
