Medication effects. Thank you for informing about headache and, taking Remeron, Diazepam and Lexapro (escitalopram). Using Remeron or Tryptizol with Lexapro (escitalopram) can increase the risk of a rare but serious condition -Serotonin Syndrome. Which is better for anxiety, Remeron or Lexapro (escitalopram). Thanks?

Anxiety. Actually neither. Both drugs can have side effects of anxiety. Having anxiety is human. Tree stumps do not experience anxiety. Best to get a careful and competent evaluation and not rush to medications for human feelings. Side eff cats can be long lasting and sometimes can be quite serious. Read more...
Neither and both. The best med is the one that works for you. Sometimes you do best with a combo of both. I find that Lexapro (escitalopram) helps obsessing and panic better but can have gi side effects and insomnia. Remeron is very sedating and helps calm the stomach, and promotes sleep but can cause weight gain. It might replace some diazepam. I often combine the two. Read more...

I am on 20mg Lexapro (escitalopram) and 45mg remeron for anxiety. I get very aggressive. By reducing Lex to 10mg would it be o k. Thanks?

Check with doc. Your doc is best person to advise you. Lexapro (escitalopram) is an SSRI remeron is dual acting --my guess would be if Meds are related to your aggression it would more likely to ne due to norepinephrine/remeron than the Lexapro (escitalopram). Read more...

Is remeron (mirtazapine) used for Generalised Anxiety Disorder. Thanks?

Not quite. Mirtazepine is a very useful antidepressant that is also helpful for insomnia, especially secondary to a depressive disorder. Sometimes, some doctros prescribe it to enhance the deep (restful) phase of sleep. However it is not known for its effcacy to relief anxiety, except as secondary to a clinical depression. Depending clinical presentation, Alprazolam or Paroxetine are more suited for anxiety. Read more...
Remeron & GAD. I tend to see it used the most in patients with insomnia. It can cause significant drowsiness so I don't see it used very often as an antidepressant. Read more...

Dr which med has the most side effects, Remeron or Lexapro (escitalopram). for anxiety. Thanks?

Not how it works. These, both effective medications, have potential side effect lists that are nearly identical. Side effects are an individual's response to the medication. They cannot be distinguished in an individual until the patient has taken one or the other. Read more...
Which med is best? Remeron (mirtazapine) & lexapro (escitalopram, an SSRI) are two meds that may be prescribed to treat anxiety. The best med for you, will be the one that has the best risk/benefit and side effect profile in *your* case. To understand ur profile w/ ea. med talk 2 ur doc! Read more...

Dr Is it o k to take tyrptizol with remeron (mirtazapine) at night time for anxiety and sleep. Thanks?

Yes, but... Both Tryptizol and Remeron are used to address insomnia secondary to depression and anxiety. However, the more medications you are on, the higher the risk for interactions and adverse reactions. It appears you are on Remeron, Diazepam and Lexapro (escitalopram). Recommend discussing with your doctor the best course of action in your particular situation, including psychiatric referral if not already done. Read more...
Caution. Tryptizol and Remeron (mirtazapine) have drug interactions that may increase risk for serotonin syndrome, eg, causing confusion, increased heart rate, blurred vision. Discuss this combination and doses with prescribing doctor. You might do better with one or the other as both target depression and anxiety. I hope this helps. Read more...
