I received a spinal tap and now I have a spinal headache. I have been laying down and staying very hydrated. How long can I expect it to last?

In brief: A day

If not improving after about 24hrs, an epidural blood patch may be recommended.

As an Anesthesiologist, I am consulted to do many blood patches- good hydration and ibuprofen/Tylenol and caffeine may help, but I agree that if it's still bad when you stand up after 24-48 hrs, then a blood patch will be your best solution. It can improve headache within minutes/hours and decrease pain and loss of work significantly. Otherwise, could last a week or more.
