Can a combination of bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) and flagyl cure an std?

In brief: Depends on the STD

There are 20-30 bacteria and viruses that cause STDs.
Some would be cured with these antibiotics but others would not. Only one, trichomonas, is reliably cured by metronidazole (Flagyl). Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) would work against some cases of gonorrhea or chlamydia, but not against anything else -- and it is not the best drug for any STD. Sounds like you'd better check back with the doctor who prescribed them.
