In brief: No, but...

A PET scan will not affect the kidneys at all, but if it is combined with a CT scan, called a PET-CT, the dye used in the CT portion can affect the kidneys, causing the creatinine to increase.
Discuss this with your doctor. Good luck.

In brief: No

PET scans do not cause renal failure, unless a newer injectable agent caused an adverse reaction.
