How long will it take for an iron supplement to take effect? (For hemoglobin levels to rise)

Couple of weeks. If your anemia is due to iron deficiency and you start taking iron pills, you would see the beginning of the response in a few days, though it may take a few weeks to notice a substantial rise in hemoglobin. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex. Get HPV vaccine.

Either. There are MANY causes of anemia. Iron deficiency is only one of them. ASSUMING that your anemia is due to iron deficiency, either schedule of iron supplement would be helpful. Taking the iron supplement with food reduces the stomach upset from it, but also (somewhat) reduces the iron absorption. If anemia hasn't improved after a month, consider other possible causes. Not absolutely. Unless you have symptoms of Anemia(you are not actually anemic) or your Red blood cell indices(such as MCV) are low, you should not take iron supplements. If you want further evaluation as to why your hemoglobin (Hb) is slightly on the lower side of normal, you should go see your doctor asnd havbve a medical evaluation to check you for any blood loss which is one reason Hb can be lower than normal.
