In brief: It's considered ok
People get geographic tongue patterns sometimes.
The reasons are not certain. If there are no painful ulcers or other "ill" symptoms, the geographic tongue is not considered an illness.

In brief: Home remedy
In medical school, i was taught to alternate applications of hydrogen peroxide, and baking soda brushed on perhaps mixed with toothpaste, including as much of the mouth as you can.
The internet community seems to have rediscovered this. There's no standard treatment and i'd like to know how this works.
