In brief: Yes? =140+/90+

If systolic (top #) is repeatedly 140 or higher and/or diastolic (bottom #) 90 or higher, then have hypertension (HTN) or high blood pressure.
Need to document BP readings from same machine/cuff (home, at store, etc.) w/date & time of day. Take list to your dr for review and discussion of benefit of medication vs likelihood of lifestyle changes lowering bp.

To diagnose high blood pressure one needs to have the most accurate device that can be found. This is still a BP taken by a trained human listening to the BP and using a calibrated manometer. i never trust an automated device for my patient unless i can validate it as accurate by auscultation.

In brief: What is high BP?

A level of blood pressure that has been proven to shorten ones life and a level of BP that if treated prolongs ones life.
The best is to be below120/80. However for treatment we use 135/85 at home as high. At your age above 135/85 at home would be consider HTN that needs to be lowered. Always try DASH diet first.
