My blood pressure was 139/88 and is always close to that. Should I be worried? What could be the consequences of it being that high?

That BP, if regularly at those levels, is too high.
Lifestyle and dietary changes are the first modes of treatment. If you truly give them a real effort with the guidance of a nutritionist and your physician and the pressures are still elevated in 4-6 months, then medications need to be considered. Obviously a thorough blood and cardiac work up needs to be performed as well. Good luck!!
