In brief: Excimer laser

The excimer laser, wavelength 308 which is used for psoriaisis can be safely used on the penis for inflammation such as is found in lichen planus.
Oral steroids are temporary and the lichen pla us will recur quickly. Another option is vertical, a vitamin d ointment, which will not thin skin of the penis.

In brief: Difficult Condition

Lichen planus (LP) of the penis may be asymptomatic, for which it generally doesn't require treatment.
However, topical steroids are the drug of choice for those with bothersome itching. Unfortunately, those that don't respond usually require oral steroids to try to shorten the course. If you've been on topical therapy without benefit for > 6 weeks, talk with your doctor about other options.
