Hi, I am taking celexa 20 mg for depression and anxiety and klonopin (clonazepam) for anxiety and panic. Could I replace the klonopin (clonazepam) with amitriptyline safely?

Not enough info. Switching medications requires knowledge of your entire clinical situation. You need to discuss with prescribing doctor reason for changing any med and how to do so. Also you must be seen and carefully monitored for symptoms and side effects. I hope this helps.

I am taking Paxil (paroxetine) and klonopin for my panic attacks and severe depression and anxiety but don't feel any better. Is there a newer or better medicatio

Yes. I use an old medicine for my patients with panic called nortriptyline. Because of how Paxil (paroxetine) can effect it's metabolism, it is a good idea to be completely off Paxil (paroxetine) for one week before taking the first dose of nortriptyline. Also, depression can be a side effect of klonopin. Read more...

Depressive relapse. Sounds like a relapse into depression. In these situations with the medications you're on it's likely that there is a dopaminergic disturbance. I think it would be reasonable to talk to your psychiatrist about the possibility of adding in Abilify (aripiprazole) as an augmentation strategy. Read more...
Need evaluation. You should see your psychiatrist ; inform him or her of your response to the treatment and to discuss a possible change in meds, such as effexor, (venlafaxine) Remeron or tricyclic antidepressant. If you do not respond to adequate trials of antidepressants, then you may need ect. You should also be evaluated for bipolar depression. In that case, i would recommend raising your seroquel ; lowering the paxil. Read more...

Been taking 1/4 klonopin (clonazepam) m&n and 10mg of celexa m. After 2 days I started 5mg of celex & felt depressed. Can I go back to the 10mg, is it safe?

Yes, it safe. I would also add that Klonopin (clonazepam) can cause depression. It is used for concomitant anxiety in depression but not used solely for depression. Depending on your age and weight, the 10 mg. of Celexa maybe too little. Read more...
Not a DIY project. Dosage of psychotropic medications is very tricky even for experienced professionals and the impact on your body of switching around can be big. Don't do it w/out a doctors guidance and monitoring - up or down. Call for an appointment ASAP. If it was only one day on the half dose, I expect you could go back up and think of it as a missed pill, but please learn not to make changes on your own. Read more...
