Listen and Learn. More than likely, the pain and swelling are indicators, telling you that sufficient healing has not yet occurred. The swelling is the body's attempt to put more stability on the injury, mainly to restrict movement. The pain is the body's attempt to convince you, not to use the ankle until further notice. You need to have the ankle re-evaluated and proceed with following proper protocol.
