In brief: Only if Ovaries gone

Women who have had their ovaries removed at hysterectomy need to replace the estrogen hormone contained therein, if they are pre-menopausal and recently post-menopausal.
The hormone replacement(estrogen) is given in pill, topical, or vaginal forms. Hot flashes, irritability, difficulty concentrating, etc are often signs of a lack of estrogen post-surgery without hormone replacement.

In brief: Maybe not

Hormones are made by the ovaries.
If your uterus is removed, that is called a hysterectomy. When only your uterus is removed but your ovaries are still there, you shouldn't need hormones. You should talk to your surgeon to see what was removed and why you have been given hormones.
