when you use a muscle group harder then its circulation can keep up it produces lactic acid which is what makes muscle burn.
It also can make you nausious. It is a good thing because it stimulates increased muscle growth and circulation.

Dr. Grieco is correct (as usual). But if the nausea makes working out unpleasant, that's not do good and decrease intensity of work out some and gradually increase so that while you may feel mild muscle soreness, you don't feel nausea that makes exercise not fun.
