Hep B. Hepatitis b can be either an acute or chronic infection. Some people may have the virus replicating in their system for the rest of their lives, whereas some people will be able to fight the infection and be left only with an antibody. For those with the chronic infection, it will can lay dormant in the body for years before it starts to replicate again and infect the liver.
