Diagnosed w/ HPV 28 yrs ago & treated for genital warts, had complete hysterectomy in 2005 but abnormal Pap smears in 2009 should I have pap smear?

There are many strains of HPV and the 2 most seen in genital warts are not the same as those associated with cancer.
If you had a standard hysterectomy,they may have left a cuff of cervix behind.Cervical tissue is what is assessed by a standard pap. If you had an abnormal pap in 20098,you are overdue for a followup study. You should have a sit down with your doc and sort out what your risks are
