Start RICE ASAP. You description of the injury certainly sounds like a sprain. Best to RICE it. Rest, ice compression and elevation. One can never be sure that it isn't fractured, however, unless you have it x-rayed. The symptoms can be similar depending on the severity of the injury. If it is severe enough a cam walker boot may be indicated. To remove all doubt, have it examined by a specialist.
