I have a sore throat that is causing me to cough up mucus and soon after, the inside of my chest and ears itch. Why is that and what can I do?

Sounds like a cold. The common cold causes mucus production, sore throat and cough. Itching is common as well. After coughing, your chest might feel irritated from the forceful air movement. I've had a coughand sore throat for a couple of weeks, but today I noticed that when I cough up mucus it is blue. Its been like this all day. Why?

Upper resp inf. I would recommend that if it i has gone on for a few weeks, that you be checked for need for antibiotics. The "blue" mucous could be viral or bacterial though and is just your body's way of fighting the infection. Read more...
