Small pleomorphic adenoma (<2cm) on postero inferior part of superficial parotid gland. Traditional incision needed? Anyone do micro parotidectomy in ct?

Traditional incision. Pleomorphic adenoma of the superficial lobe of parotid requires removal of the superficial lobe. This operation is not performed on the lobe per se but on identifying the facial nerve and its branches and lifting the lobe off the nerve. The incision is designed to give landmarks that define the trunk of the nerve as it comes out of the stylomastoid foramen. Procedure this way is under 1 hr.

Fistula. It sounds like you have a salivary fistula which is a rare complication of partial parotidectomy.Usually will close spontaneously in a few weeks and very rarely persists for months or chronically. However, since you are "fresh post-op"only a few days after surgery,PLEASE call the surgeon and make sure s/he sees you. I have had surgery twice of the parotid gland (pleomorphic adenoma). Now from last 1 month my intra parotid lymph nodes are swollen, why?

Many possible reason. If you are certain this is an intraparotid lymph node (as opposed to a nodule of recurrence of pleomorphic adenoma), there could be many possible causes ranging from some infection, to inflammatory diseases either specific to the parotid or more general, to some other tumor. The person who did your most recent parotid surgery is probably in the best position to answer this question. Read more...
