In brief: Exam

You are describing a superficial varicosity ( vein near the surface) which has been injured or bled.
This usually resolves spontaneously over the next 7-10 days. If painful, red or swollen get examined this week. If this has occurred within the last 2 days: NO HEAT- it will only make it spread. OK to use local ice and Advil{ if not allergic)- Call for an appointment if painful or red.

In brief: Bruise

observe it for now .
If it gets painful or swollen get a ultrasound Duplex scan to rule out a deep blood clot
