Hi, Following on from last question (darn 250 limit) Are there any correlation between D Dimer values and size of clot? I.e. the higher the D Dimer value the bigger the clot? Thanks

Loose correlation. There is probably some loose correlation. Problem is that there are just too many factors that could influence the production and consumption of the dimer. In general probably some ability to judge clot by numbers but nothing more precise than looking at clot size directly with ultrasound or angiography.
Unaware. Not aware of that correlation between size of clot and higher value for d dimer. A d dimer is a test that we use to help rule out a clot when it is negative, but a positive one does not guarantee a clot is present, other factors can raise a d dimer too.
