In brief: Try Glide

Use a brand such as Glide to remove what is lodged.
If you can not dislodge, see the dentist to get it removed.

If pieces of floss are shreding off when you floss between your teeth and you have a filling or fillings there, have a dentist check that there are no sharp edges catching the floss. If there are no fillings the contact between your teeth may be tight . This is nothing to worry about. If you are not sure, see your dentist. He'll probably check it for free.
