Hi, my daughter has a tick bite behind her ear. We found it within 12 hours... Once removed should she have antibiotics as a precautionary measure?

Tick. If you are certain it was less than 36 hours and the attached Tick did not feed, prophylaxis is not recommended. If you have any concerns the current recommendation is 1 dose of Doxycycline 200mg. All the best.
Mgt/ workup. If the area becomes infected then antibiotics may be used. Not all tick bites cause disease eg Lyme Disease. If there is a concern about Lyme disease, a characteristic appearance of a target rash is found among many patients. A blood test may be ordered prior to giving antibiotics. For local care, the use of a topical antibiotic may promote healing.
